My name is Christian Uhlenbruch, I am 40 years old, married and have wonderful children. I am a member of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen Solingen (Alliance 90/The Greens Solingen). I grew up in sports clubs, where I learned early on that things only work when everyone pulls together. This fundamental understanding of working for the common good has stayed with me to this day.

For me, politics is an opportunity to achieve major improvements for everyone. I joined the Green Party because they share my values and convictions. I am not a hardliner or an ideologue, but I am convinced that we must reconcile a healthy environment, economic rationality and social cohesion.

Professionally, I come from the field of taxation and finance, have completed training as a tax clerk, and regularly satisfy my thirst for knowledge with distance learning and correspondence courses. In my voluntary work, I have been active as a managing director, trainer, referee, and in other roles in several clubs and associations, particularly in handball, my sporting home.

I have found my family and professional home in Solingen. As a newcomer, I see the city with open eyes: Solingen has many strengths that are sometimes overlooked – and this is precisely where I want to build bridges between people, ideas and perspectives.

I take criticism seriously, enthusiasm drives me forward. I am someone who reflects, listens and has the courage to tackle things head on. For the future, I wish for a Solingen that looks confidently ahead – with people who have faith in their city and in each other.

Finally, something personal: I like things to be straightforward. In German, you address strangers using a polite form of address. But feel free to address me simply as ‘you’ or ‘Christian’. For me, respect is shown in attitude and behaviour – not in the form of address.
